Join us for a special musical event this month - Christmas in July! All month long, we offer a mix of our regular CCM favorites from the 70s, 80s and 90s along with a sprinkling of holiday selections from secular and CCM artists!
Video of the Week
'When Love Came Down' wasn't the biggest radio hit from Point of Grace's Christmas album. Yet over the years it's become one of the songs fans most associate with their Christmas concerts. Sometimes the songs that last the longest aren't the ones that chart the highest—they're the ones that become part of people's Christmas memories.
4th of July Playlist
Happy 250th Birthday, America! To celebrate, we at Golden CCM have put together some fun playlists to celebrate our freedom in this great nation and in Christ! Tune in at 3, 6 and 9 p.m.

How Do We Pick the Songs?
Our programming coordinators grew up during the golden era of Christian music in the 1980s and 1990s, listening to Dallas/Fort Worth stations like KOJO and KLTY and discovering the artists and songs that brought so many people together. Along the way, broadcasts from KCBI and KVTT also introduced us to the worship music that became part of the soundtrack of our salvations. Then, in the early 1990s, everything changed with the discovery of an underground station on the AM dial, KPBC. The station introduced Metroplex listeners to artists such as Steve Taylor, Bash-N-the-Code, Idle Cure and Heartbeat, while also playing songs from well-known artists that did not always fit neatly into contemporary or worship radio formats. That shared musical history helped shape the Golden CCM playlist, but it is only part of the story. We also follow fan communities and message boards where favorite artists, forgotten songs and classic albums are still celebrated today. As professional researchers, we work to continually expand the Golden CCM catalog by exploring official music charts, historical radio playlists and archived recordings from Christian radio stations, along with online resources, curated mixes and fan-created listicles that help preserve this unique era of music. Our goal is to capture the true spirit of Christian radio from the era — not just the biggest hits. And because there is always more to learn, we continue researching, listening and growing the playlist with the same passion that first inspired us decades ago.
Who Took the Mantle after Keith Green?
While researching new music, I stumbled across a social media comment claiming that Steve Camp took up the mantle after the death of legendary CCM pioneer Keith Green. The statement stuck with me and sparked several conversations among the Golden CCM crew. Could anyone really take Keith Green's place? The comparison isn't entirely without merit. Like Green, Steve Camp wasn't afraid to challenge the church, call believers to deeper commitment, and occasionally stir up controversy along the way. But the more we discussed it, the more difficult the question became. Keith Green wasn't just another CCM artist. He was a unique voice whose passion and conviction still resonate decades after his death. Perhaps that's why fans continue searching for a successor. When someone leaves such a profound impact, we naturally look for the person who carried the torch forward. Was that Steve Camp? Some would say yes. Others might point to Rich Mullins, another artist whose authenticity and willingness to challenge listeners left a lasting mark on Christian music before his life was cut tragically short. Or maybe Keith Green wasn't meant to have a successor at all. What do you think? If Keith Green's mantle passed to anyone, who was it? And why do so many of the voices that leave the deepest mark seem to leave us far too soon?
Why Golden CCM?
If you read the article “How Do We Pick the Songs?”, you know that our programming coordinators were raised on Christian radio. Sadly, many of the stations we once loved now exist only in our memories. When KLTY switched formats to K-LOVE in 2025, it simply underscored something we had already been feeling for years: the format we grew up with had slowly disappeared. It wasn’t just that the music no longer reflected us as Gen X listeners. Much of the personality, artistry, and spirit that defined CCM in the 80s and 90s had faded as well. Is there meaningful ministry and great Christian music from the 2000s and beyond? Absolutely. In fact, we include select songs from the early 2000s in our library. But we also believe the soundtrack of our faith should not leave behind the decades that shaped so many lives and memories. And if the 80s and 90s deserve to be remembered, how could we overlook the music of the 70s that helped launch the entire CCM movement? That’s the challenge Golden CCM hopes to answer. There are already many stations devoted to contemporary Christian music from the 2000s forward. Our mission is different. We want to serve listeners who still find comfort, encouragement, and nostalgia in the music that accompanied their childhoods, youth groups, road trips, church camps, and quiet moments with God. These songs are more than memories. For many of us, they are part of our testimony. And we believe they still matter.
Why Isn't Golden CCM A 24 Hour Station?
One thing that makes Golden CCM different from many other Live365 stations is that we're not on the air 24 hours a day. There are a few practical reasons for that. For one, DMCA regulations limit how often songs and artists can be played within a certain period. Rather than using up those plays when only a handful of listeners might be tuned in, we'd rather save them for the hours when more people can enjoy them. There are also additional costs associated with streaming around the clock. But my favorite reason is much less practical. There's something special about knowing that a station signs off and then returns the next day. One of the stations I grew up with, KPBC at 1040 AM, was a sunrise-to-sunset station. I'd often tune in near the end of the day just to hear the sign-off. It made the station feel a little more personal—and it gave you something to look forward to tomorrow. If you're that kind of listener too, tune in around 8:58 p.m.* Sunday through Friday, and around 11:58 p.m. on Saturdays, to hear our nightly sign-off. *We're still experimenting with our operating hours, so be sure to check the website for any schedule changes or possible summer hour expansions.
